Pellé Maintenance Cleaning, Conditioning and Protection Why it is a Necessity and not just a Chore!
Leather is a natural material which is finished with protection coats to various degrees depending on the type of finish that is desired. Despite the type of finish on all leathers they maintain a degree of porosity. Being porous means leather will absorb everyday soiling like perspiration, dust, grime and body oils. If not removed regularly through a simple process of maintenance cleaning, conditioning and protecting, this soiling will cause premature leather wear including surface damage and discolouration.

The examples shown (Fig, 1 & Fig, 2) illustrates the need to for a simple 3 monthly maintenance cleaning process followed up by the Pellé Conditioner Protector to maintain the suppleness in the fibre of the leather and to limit the penetration of soiling into the finishes of the leather making for easy cleaning progressively over the life of the leather upholstery.
The lighter colour of this example of leather Upholstery which is only a year old, shows how the build up of soiling can dramatically change the appearance of the leather and also cause a breakdown of the finishes especially in the natural occurring creases on the major wear areas. This example was used daily for up to 3 hours and had no maintenance at all in that time. |

Darker colours do not show the soiling but are just as susceptible to soiling build-up without exception.
The very specifically industry rated standard Pellé Cleaner will not degrade the integrity of the leather finishes but will soften and lift soiling for the leather. Even without rubbing this example 3 4 shows the Pellé Cleaner lifting the soiling away as it runs down the face of the leather head and back rest area.
A simple clean followed by the Pellé conditioning and protecting product can double the wear life of upholstery leather and maintain appearance and feel of the leather.
Constant use of the leather, especially in the heavy wear areas such as the seating area, backs of the seating position, tops and fronts of arm areas5) and the tops of the seating position where head contact occurs can cause the finish to breakdown without a minimum of preventive cleaning maintenance.
