Nubuck Master Kit, Click here to check it out. Nubuck is a very special leather. Selected from the finest full grain hides, the leather is dyed and the grain side is lightly sanded or snuffed to produce a nap with a soft silky finish. This is done so the natural grain and other characteristics of each individual hide are often still visible. Nubuck is warm, soft to the touch and with use reflects the contact areas of your furniture by producing a patina that characterises and personalises your furniture. This is a feature of quality nubuck.

Nubuck is not recommended for situations with high soiling. Nubuck leather doesn’t need to be fussed over ~ but the right care and attention will make a lot of difference to its appearance and performance over time.

Nubuck although long wearing is not sealed therefore is porous and more absorbent than other leathers.

CLEANING: An integral part of cleaning your Nubuck is frequent light surface cleaning. Ingrained soiling will be difficult to remove and may require the services of a professional cleaner. If you follow the Pellé Nubuck Care Programme you will find general cleaning is quick and simple, taking little time, and your furniture will reward you by giving long service. Always pay particular attention to the areas of your suite that come in contact with skin and hair. These areas on our bodies can transmit perspiration into the hide and if not removed properly and frequently will cause discolouration and permanent damage.

WARNING: The special characteristics of Nubuck necessitate that the care products are solvent based and flammable. They are non-toxic and are regarded as safe if used as directed. Read and take heed of the warning precaution panels on the bottles at all times.

PROTECTION: To give your Nubuck some resistance to soiling and spillage each hide has been treated at the tannery with a water, oil and soil repellent. However, this does not make Nubuck stainproof or waterproof and its resistance to some chemicals such as solvents is very low. To maintain as much resistance as possible it is important to apply the Pellé Contitioner / Stain Guard at the intervals directed in the Pellé System Nubuck Programme.

The Pellé System Nubuck Care Programme

SPOT CLEANING: Spot cleaning of marks whilst fresh assists in removal

WEEKLY : Inspect your furniture and vacuum with suitable brush head fitting to remove any dust build up.

MONTHLY : Spot clean any marks first, then give your furniture a light overall clean using the Pellé Nubuck Cleaner, as directed on the bottle. Pay particular attention to all areas of contact cushions, arms, head rests, etc., and ensure any perspiration is removed. N.B.: If your suite is used infrequently, this overall cleaning can be done every second or third month. If you use your suite every day or for long periods, monthly is recommended.

PROTECTION : Apply the Pellé Nubuck Conditioner / Stain Guard to the wear areas as directed after any cleaning. This applies not only to overall cleaning but also to spot cleaning. N.B.: Do not overuse the Pellé Nubuck Conditioner / Stain Guard. It is highly concentrated and requires a very small amount to preserve and maintain the high level of protection. Two light coats, drying in-between gives the best protection.

SPILLAGE REMOVAL ~ If you have followed the care programme, many spillages will be easily removed without trace.
If you have a spillage such as a cup of tea or coffee, remove the cushions, and using a colourfast material such as white tissues or bath towel, gently blot or soak up the fluid as fast as possible. Avoid pushing the spillage into the hide. After soaking up the fluid, rub your Nubuck until damp dry, using a colourfast bath towel, and then leave to dry naturally and slowly. out of any direct heat or sunlight. When thoroughly dry, inspect, clean and reprotect using the Pellé Nubuck Cleaner and Conditioner / Stain Guard.

STAIN REMOVAL: The removal of marks as soon as they are noticed invariably assists in removal. If you cannot remove a mark using the Pellé System Cleaner, don’t persist ~ you may damage the leather.
